EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a psychotherapeutic method designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. I specialize in utilizing EMDR therapy to support clients in dealing with a range of traumas, and it involves guiding clients through a series of bilateral eye movements while recalling distressing events. This process helps reprocess and integrate traumatic memories into the brain’s natural information processing system. As a result the emotional charge of these memories is reduced, allowing clients to heal and move forward in their lives. This tailored approach not only helps in reducing symptoms of post traumatic stress but also improves overall emotional well- being and relationships.

EMDR therapy typically consists of 50 minute sessions, which are very effective, but there is a decent amount of time taken at the beginning and end of each session that detracts from the actual EMDR reprocessing time. EMDR Intensives are longer sessions that allow for more time for you to fully drop in a dn move through more of the trauma we are working with in a more efficient way. These intensives are generally ideal for targeting a specific trauma, like a specific event that you would like to address in a short amount of time such as birth trauma.
